Dummy Text Plugin for Joomla - Documentation

Syntax

Add any of the tags as shown below as normal text in your Joomla content, the syntax of the tag will be replaced by the Dummy Text of your choice (text, lists or words).

The syntax will show in your backend, the Dummy Text will show up in the frontend of your web site. You can change any value in the syntax on the fly, click the Apply-button and refresh the page in the frontend (press F5) to get a new Dummy Text instantly.

1. Add Dummy Text

Syntax:

{ dummytext p:2 } important: don't use blanks after '{' or before '}'

The tag will be replaced with 2 paragraphs of "Lorum Ipsum" dummy text, like:

Vivamus laoreet. Nullam tincidunt adipiscing enim. Phasellus tempus. Proin viverra, ligula sit amet ultrices semper, ligula arcu tristique sapien, a accumsan nisi mauris ac eros. Fusce neque. Suspendisse faucibus, nunc et pellentesque egestas, lacus ante convallis tellus, vitae iaculis lacus elit id tortor. Vivamus aliquet elit ac nisl. Fusce fermentum odio nec arcu. Vivamus euismod mauris. In ut quam vitae odio lacinia tincidunt. Praesent ut ligula non mi varius sagittis. Cras sagittis. Praesent ac sem eget est egestas volutpat. Vivamus consectetuer hendrerit lacus. Cras non dolor. Vivamus in erat ut urna cursus vestibulum. Fusce commodo aliquam arcu. Nam commodo suscipit quam. Quisque id odio. 2. Add a Dummy Unordered List

Syntax:	{ dummytext ul:3 } important: don't use blanks after '{' or before '}'
The tag will be replaced with 3 items in an unordered list, like:	Vestibulum ante ipsum primis in faucibus orci luctus et ultrices posuere cubilia Curae; Sed aliquam, nisi quis porttitor congue, elit erat euismod orci, ac placerat dolor lectus quis orci Vivamus consectetuer hendrerit lacus

3. Add a Dummy Ordered List

Syntax:	{ dummytext ul:4 } important: don't use blanks after '{' or before '}'
The tag will be replaced with 4 items in an ordered list, like:	Nunc nonummy metus Nullam accumsan lorem in dui Maecenas tempus, tellus eget condimentum rhoncus, sem quam semper libero, sit amet adipiscing sem neque sed ipsum Proin sapien ipsum, porta a, auctor quis, euismod ut, mi

4. Add one Dummy Word

Syntax:	{ dummytext word:20 } important: don't use blanks after '{' or before '}'
The tag will be replaced with just one word of 20 characters, like:	Loremipsumdolorsitam

Tag options

Paragraphs
p:(number) = set the number of paragraphs
Unordered Lists
ul:(number) = set the number of items
Ordered Lists
ol:(number) = set the number of items
Words
word:(number) = set the number of characters

List Length:

You can change the default value for the number of characters used in unordered or ordered list items by setting the maximum value for the length of any list item in the List-item size parameter.

Example

You can create dummy content items quickly by using any combination of the tags in just one article:
important: don't use blanks after '{' or before '}'

{ dummytext p:1 }
A very long word: { dummytext word:200}
{ dummytext ul:8}
{ dummytext p:3 }

Or in HTML view, create something like:

What To Do When The Dummy Text Does Not Show

1. Make sure the Dummy Text Plugin has been enabled.
2. Set the Access Level to 'Public', even if the Joomla content item or Custom HTML-module is not.
3. Make sure there is no typo in the tag. You can test this by copy/paste any of the example tags here in your content.
