The Joomla User Group of NYC just announced JoomlaDay NYC, to be held October 22-23 in Microsoft Technology Center in downtown Manhatten. I am happy to be able to join a dozen speakers from all over the world. I will present 'Choosing extensions for Joomla' on Saturday October 22.
With over 8,000 extensions published in Joomla's Extensions Directory (JED), the question arises what to use when developing or extending a Joomla site. I will help you define clear criteria and methods to find and select the best possible extensions for your project.
Day 1 of the event will be a 'typical' Joomla Day with four different workshops offered at each time slot. There is a beginners track, an all levels track, a track for Joomla users with some experience, and a developers track.
Day 2 is dedicated to developers only! Each workshop will be a minimum of two hours long, so you will have enough time to really get into the topic at hand.
Feel free to contact me in case you plan to visit Joomla Day NYC and want to discuss business with me in person. I will have one or two days extra and will be happy to grab a coffee with you or setup a meeting.

The Joomla Community in The Netherlands will celebrate the release of Joomla 1.6 with a Bug Event & Release Party in the recently opened Joomla Competence Center in Amsterdam.
The event is free, but you should register via Joomlacommunity.eu to get a ticket. Did I say 't-shirts'?
JoomlaCommunity.eu is organizing this event in close partnership with 2Value, Byte Internet , Jira ICT, Open Source Support Desk (yes, us here...) and Tringo.

J and Beyond, May 30 - June 1, 2010, is a three day Joomla conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, that is fully focused on the needs of it's attendees. This event is very different than most, due to how the hosts have chosen to set it up. J and Beyond wants to cater to your needs by providing you with a very open style Joomla event with no conventional timetables or schedules initially.
Together with Wilco Jansen, former Joomla Core Team Member and Boardmember of Open Source Matters, I will join the Joomla Central Wisconsin User's Group, October 8. It's a real honor for me to be invited for the inaugural meeting of this JUG and both Wilco and I are looking forward to meet local Joomla enthousiasts and some old friends at this JUG.
Known Joomla experts like Johan Janssens, Wilco Jansen, Brian Teeman, Fotis Evangelou and Ryan Ozimek will be discussing Joomla subjects in depth. This will be a great opportunity to discuss your Joomla project with these and other well known experts in this field.
At the upcoming JoomlaDay UK, Michel van Agtmaal, Founder of Open Source Support Desk, will share with you how to take responsibility for open source initiatives to ensure you have the right support structures in place before launch.
Deciding which open source support options are best depends on a number of factors, including which open source software the organization deploys, how it is used, and what the organization's own software-support capabilities are. Your open source support needs will vary, depending upon the type and purpose of the software used.
Michel will give an overview of traditionally available types of support in the industry. With a 90 day plan, he will help you in crafting a support strategy.
